William Roberts, Founder of Remedy
Dear Public-Sector Professional,
Remedy was born from a deeply personal experience. As the husband of a Consultant Anaesthetist in the NHS, I watched my wife struggle with the complexity of pension tax, the McCloud remedy, and the career decisions that hang on them, an area even specialist accountants admitted was a minefield.
The breaking point came when she agonised over whether to take on extra sessions, not because of the clinical load, but because of the tax and pension implications that no one could explain clearly. Getting timely answers out of the system was like solving a puzzle with missing pieces.
But the more I dug in, the clearer one thing became: this was never just an NHS problem. Teachers, police officers, firefighters, armed forces personnel, civil servants and local government staff are all in the same kind of defined benefit pension, and all face the same hidden Annual Allowance and McCloud traps, usually with no warning until a bill lands.
